The Institute was formally founded inas the children of the original survivors dug into the earth and built increasingly sophisticated habitats and laboratories, starting an ongoing process of expanding the Institute's facilities and infrastructure. While the college itself was completely destroyed in the flames of the Great War in the science staff took refuge in the underground of the Institute and carved out a subterranean habitat for themselves. The secretive nature of the Institute has turned it into somewhat of a boogeyman figure on the surface, and its presence is a major cause of paranoia for the people of the Commonwealth. It is known and feared for its ability to produce advanced synthetic humans also known as synths of high enough quality to pass as true humans. at this point it appears that even if Bethesda yanks a mod from the site, the files themselves remain on your console unless you choose to delete them - so you can keep deleted mods forever.The Institute is an advanced scientific organization based in the Commonwealth. You'd best download those you find now, because its a good bet even these stealthy ones will get swatted down eventually. If you see something with an odd name like Cool3!~ you can bet you're on the right track. Head to the Work In Progress folder here at Bethesda's Fallout 4 mods page and search through them manually for anything with no photo gallery and no description. but if you know where to look, they absolutely do exist - and are even found directly on Bethesda's website. Posting up something obviously called a "nude mod" in the Clothing or Texture category is a surefire way to get it taken down immediately.
